Chapter 1: Gruesome murders or Something more unusual?
...It was silent..
The room was dark and only a glimmer of light shone from the window at the far end of the room. I could smell the foul odour of the decaying human body but I couldn't really grasp the fact that he was dead. We were supposed to meet exactly at 9 PM sharp in this hotel room. He had information I needed and now I was left with nothing but this news report about an incident that happened a week ago about the killings in town. The killings were..unusual.
I switched on my flashlight and shone it on the body of my informer who was supposed to give me a lead on these killings. It was a terrible sight. His right leg was gone, his eyeballs were gone, his chest ripped open and he was laying there in his own pool of blood. This was the type of murder that's been happening in town for the past week. I had to get to the bottom of this fast.
I squatted over to examine him thoroughly. It didn't seem like he was killed with a blade. It looked more like a savage animal that tore him open. Just then, I heard a growling noise behind me.
My hands ready on the handle of my handgun. Taking deep breaths, I turned around as quickly as possible and saw nothing. It was strange. I'm sure that I heard something. I looked around the room with my flashlight shone to the direction I was looking at but saw nothing. Strange..very strange indeed.
Just as I let my guard down and turned around..I heard the growling noise again but this time it was louder and I could hear it coming closer. I made a swift 180 degree turn and saw something I had never seen before. It was freakishly disgusting. Some kind of mutant I guess. It had the body and head of a dog. It's jaws were open and showing its teeth with blood dripping down. Its eyes were crimson red and had this raging stare that scared the shit out of me. Its legs were different. They were quite muscled and huge, not something that you'd see on any regular dog. It also had wings but these wings looked very devil-ish. They were black with scratch marks everywhere and holes scattered around it.
Soon I realised that I had holstered my handgun so I had no time to take it out unless I wanna get mauled by this..this..thing. A second later it pounced at me. I had to react fast and kicked it as soon as it was within range. When I kicked it back, I took out my handgun as quickly as possible and shot it at least 6 times. All my shots landed but it was still alive! Something was sticking out of its back. It looked reddish and very vulnerable. I took two shots at it. The mutated dog finally limped and died. I was relieved cause I only had 2 rounds left in my handgun's mag. If it was still aliveI would've been left vulnerable without any weapon to spare and I would've been dead instead. I'm guessing that won't be the last time I encounter something like that. I holstered my handgun and closed the door behind me and walked out into the hallway. I looked outside the window nearby and saw that it started raining heavily. Damn, I just bought this shirt and now it's gonna get wet..
to be continued..
